Adrija Das, a 1.6-year-old baby girl from Icchapur, Tarakeswar, West Bengal, was diagnosed with a rare congenital condition—anorectoplasty of vestibular fistula—at a very tender age. Her father, a daily wage laborer working in Kolkata, was devastated. With a modest income and no savings to fall back on, the cost of a critical surgical procedure seemed far beyond reach.

In his search for hope, he came across the Sai Swasthya Wellness Centre in Icchapur. With nothing to lose and everything to hope for, he walked into the Centre with his daughter in his arms. The attending doctor assessed the child and confirmed the urgent need for surgery. What followed was a swift, compassionate response. Through the Centre’s collaboration with Bhagirathi Neotia, a tertiary care hospital in Kolkata, Adrija was referred for immediate surgical intervention. The procedure, which could have placed an unbearable financial burden on the family, was carried out completely free of cost, without compromising on the quality of care. Throughout the journey—from diagnosis to surgery and recovery—a dedicated team member from the centre stood by the family, offering emotional support and guidance at every step.

Today, Adrija is recovering well, and her story stands as a powerful reminder of what equitable, compassionate healthcare can achieve. It is not just about curing illness, but about restoring hope, dignity, and the future of a child who deserved a healthy start to life.
